Photo showing Wrimco SBS being torch applied to the blockwork retaining wall. Due to the ground water, heaters were used to dry out the wall and a water based epoxy was used as a primer/sealer. Wrimco PB4 protection board was then spot stuck to the waterproofing membrane prior to backfilling.

Wrimco PB4 6.4mm protection board spot torch to the Wrimco SBS waterproofing membrane fully bonded to the foundation. PB4 is semi-rigid but can accommodate curves. Since it is made from polystyrene foam, it is very easy to apply even in complex shapes as shown here and most importantly, will remain fixed.

The retaining walls waterproofed with Wrimco SBS torch applied membrane. Since the base was well below the water table, the Wrimco SBS was first laid on the blinding slab. After the main concrete base slab was poured, the membrane was subsequently wrapped around the sides and brought across to the walls in order to totally encapsulate or "tank" the basement. The depth of the excavation can be gauged by the fencing which is at road level facing the ocean beach.

After builder has fabricated formwork on blinding slab, lay the membrane, torch laps and double detail all perimeters and corners with the Wrimo SBS membrane taped to the formwork, finishing 50mm above final floor height. The polyfilm is burnt off from the SBS on the walls and the molten surface sanded.
Steel fixer installs reinforcement on FC sheet protection (optional). Slab is provided with waterstops while sump is formed using a 20 litre square HDPE container before pouring. The walls are subsequently formed up and poured.
