Usage guidelines: Substrate preparation
All concrete and masonry surfaces shall be cured for 28 days.
All substrate voids must be filled and all protrusions removed prior to application
Do not use form release agents that leave contamination on the concrete
Substrate should be clean, free from loose aggregate, form release agents and other contaminants
Concrete should have a smooth wood float finish
rick or masonry substrates should be rendered to a fine, smooth finish
ase and topping slabs should have adequate falls to drain points and gutters and drain points at the membrane level.
Structures to be waterproofed with tremproof3300 HD should have expansion joints as necessary to accommodate movement. All joints should be sealed as per tremco specifications.
Method of application
All substrates must be primed with bitumen contact adhesive at a rate of 5 to 7m2/litre. Prime only the areas which will be covered with membrane the same day. Areas primed and not covered with membrane within 24 hours should be
re-primed. if the work environment is dusty apply the membrane immediately after primer is tack free.
Always start laying the membrane at the lowest point.
Do not apply membrane if ambient temperature is below 5 C, do not apply bitumen primer to frozen concrete.
When the primer is touch dry apply membrane adhesive side down by pulling back the release paper.
Apply in a straight line to avoid wrinkles and "fish mouths" and immediately compress the applied membrane down onto the substrate using a roller or
similar tool to ensure good surface contact and to eliminate any air entrapment.
Lay membrane with minimum of 75mm side laps and 100mm end laps. use extreme care to ensure all end and side laps are fully sealed and bonded.
Polyroof sealant may be applied where necessary to seal around edges and at laps, however it must only be applied after the membrane has been bonded to the substrate. the adhesive side of tremproof3300 HD should not be pushed
onto uncured Tremco Polyroof.
On vertical surfaces that are more than 2.4 meters high, apply the membrane in cut sheets of maximum length 2.4 meters, starting from the low point. all membrane sheets should be pressed with a hand roller prior to application
of next layer above
Apply so that membrane continues over the top of foundation, parapet wall or slab. If membrane must be terminated on the vertical surface, ensure that a reglet or counter flashing system is used. where the membrane is to terminate at the base of a foundation wall, ensure that the membrane is continued over the edge of footings or base slabs and pressed very firmly to ensure good adhesion. ensure that all terminations are very well pressed with hand roller or other tool and where possible sealed tremco Polyroof.
Ensure that all outside corners are free of sharp edges. Inside corners should have a 25mm fillet applied of a latex modified cement mortar or an epoxy mortar - do not use wood or other materials. All inside or outside corners should have a 300mm wide strip of tremproof 3000 HD applied as reinforcement prior to the main application.
Where protrusions (eg pipe work) occur, apply an additional 2 layers of tremproof 3300 HD around the protrusion and 200mm in all directions around it prior to the main membrane application.
Where drains occur, apply an additional 2 layers of tremproof 3300 HD around the drain and for a distance of 200mm around it. Apply tremco polyroof sealant between the top membrane layer and drain clamping ring and to all terminations.
Apply protection board to all membrane areas that will be back-filled or covered over with gravel. the protection board should be installed on day of application or
immediately after flood testing. A slip sheet of heavy duty plastic must be placed between the membrane and any solid topping.
Inspect membrane thoroughly after application for tears, damage from other trades, reinforcement steel, inadequately lapped or bonded seams. repair any
damaged areas with additional membrane layer extending a minimum of 150mm around the damaged portion. Where possible flood test all horizontal applications with a minimum of 50mm of water for 24 hours. In all situations ensure that membrane is covered over or backfilled within 24 hours or immediately after flood testing.
