Wire brush rusty areas and treat with kill rust or similar.
Prime surfaces with metal etch primer.
Apply leak seal tape 80mm x 10mm over all joints and any holes.
Using brush and roller, spread UV polyurethane liquid membrane Multithane UV at 1.5li/sqm as 2 coats each 0.75li/sqm, one following the other as soon as cured but still tacky. (If you press membrane with a finger and it remains depressed, then not cured sufficiently. Use some polyethylene film to protect your finger).
Wire brush rusting away and treat with kill rust or similar.
Clean and seal joints with aluminium flashing tape 90mm x 10m.
3. When the primer is dry apply two coats UV resistant acrylic liquid membrane Duramastic AC for
a total usage rate of 1.5 litres/m2 or water based UV protection polyurethane modified liquid membrane Azcothane Reo.
Please note that the above advice assumes the roof is in good condition and not rusting. If there is rust on the roof the rust has to be removed and the metal treated with a rust converter before the primer is applied.
Please note that when the rust converter is dry the metal has to be wiped over with clean water and allowed to dry before the primer is applied. If the leak can be identified then the hole can be covered with Seal leak tape after the primer has been applied and before the membrane is used
Waterproof Leaking Metal Roof Liquid Membrane:
Etch ME Primer
It is a premium, single pack, epoxy modified
etch primer formulated to provide excellent adhesion to most ferrous and
non-ferrous metals including galvanized steel and aluminium. Priming and Surface Preparation: Good preparation is
essential. Surfaces must be sound, stable, dry, clean and free of dust, loose,
flaking, friable material and substances that may diminish adhesion. Surfaces must be dry, clean and free of rust,
dust, oils, grease wax and contaminants. Remove all mill scale and rust by
blast cleaning by abrasive power toll then dust off and clean surface. Note: Adhesion will be diminished or negated if applied to damp, rusty or
contaminated surfaces. Application: Stir contents thoroughly before use and
intermittently. After proper preparation, apply in generally one coat by spray,
brush or roller ensuring that the entire surface is adequately covered. The
minimum theoretical coverage / usage is 10 m2 per litre giving a wet film of 10
microns but practical coverage depends on the type and profile of the surface
and method of application. For non-ferrous-metal ensure that the dry film
thickness is greater than 10 microns. A second coat may be applied but must be
applied as soon after the first is dry and within 30 minutes.
Azcothane Reo is a water-based, flexible, high performance, polyurethane fortified acrylic emulsion waterproofing membrane formulated for use is demanding exposed, under tile, underground and immersed waterproofing applications. Azcothane's Reo formulation complies with AS4858:2004 and is generally applied in accordance with AS3740:2004. It is liquid applied and cures to form a durable, flexible, strong, UV resistant, odourless, seamless, and impervious waterproofing membrane. It does not re-emulsify after it has fully cured making it ideal for long-term waterproofing. It will not stain grout or tiles. Repair leaking balcony liquid rubber membrane. Azcothane Reo has been specifically designed for exposed, under-tile, underground and immersed waterproofing requirements included the long-term waterproofing of: Exposed concrete and metal roofs.
It is a cold-applied, one-component
waterborne liquid applied waterproofing membrane, highly elastic and
Uses: For roof waterproofing solutions in both new
construction and refurbishment projects. For roofs with many details and
complex geometry when accessibility is limited. For cost efficient life cycle
extension of failing roofs. F
