Primer for Sika joint sealants and elastic adhesives
Sika Primer-3N is a one-part, solvent containing primer for Sika joint sealants
and elastic adhesives.
As a primer under Sikaflex, Sikaflex AT joint sealants and SikaBond, SikaBond
AT elastic adhesives on porous substrates such as concrete.
Characteristics / Advantages
Easy to apply
Provides better and longer bonding
Can be used on surfaces up to 8% moisture content
Can be used both on porous (concrete, cementitious surfaces etc.) and nonporous
substrates (metal, etc.)
Appearance / Colour: Liquid, transparent
Packaging: 1 litre metal pail
Storage Conditions / Shelf-life
9 months from date of production if stored properly in undamaged original sealed
containers in dry conditions and protected from direct sunlight at temperatures
between +10oC and +25oC.
Chemical base: Transparent solvent based and reactive epoxy resin mix
Density: ~ 0.98 kg/l (ISO 2811-1)
- On porous substrates: ~220 - 300 m with 1 liter (1 liter per ~5 m2)
- Non-porous substrates (metals): ~400 m with 1 liter (1 liter per ~8 m2)
Substrate Quality Substrate should be clean, homogeneous and free from oil, grease and dust.
Clean and dry, homogeneous, even, free from oils and grease, dust and loose or
friable particles. Paint, cement laitance and any other contaminants must be
removed using suitable mechanical techniques such as wire brush or grinding.
Substrate should be dry, slightly visible damp is acceptable - there should be no
standing water. It is advisable to mask off adjacent areas to prevent possible
