KemFlash
one-component, bitumen-modified polyurethane flashing
liquid. It produces a highly elastic waterproofing membrane with excellent
adhesion to many types of surfaces, ideal for roof flashings and details where
it is difficult to apply sheet membranes.
FEATURES
-
Ready to use, one-component.
-
Simple application by brush,
roller or trowel.
-
Makes flashing details easy
and secure.
-
No flame required.
-
Conforms to irregular shapes.
-
Forms seamless membrane
without joints.
-
Eliminates cutting/gluing and
torching.
-
Saves time and money
-
No fasteners or termination
bar required.
SURFACE PREPARATION
All surfaces must be free of oil, grease, moisture, loose
particles, curing products, form-work, irregularities, slurry, etc. Roughen PVC
pipe with sandpaper. Clean metal surfaces with solvent (eg. acetone, Xylene or
Methyl Ethyl Ketone). Metal surfaces should be clean, smooth, free of
contamination and oxidisation. Fill surface irregularities with the relevant
product if necessary.
RECOMMENDED SUBSTRATES
Without primer: Bituminous waterproofing membranes,
metal, pre-painted metal, wood, concrete, and PVC pipe.
With primer (Bitumen Primer or KEMSEAL SP1): Built up
Roofing
With KEMSEAL WBE PRIMER: Most other roofing and waterproofing
substrate surfaces.
INSTALLATION

is used. Mix product well before use. Junctions between supports, transitions,
joins, and corners must be reinforced with KEMSEAL REINFORCING FABRIC. Apply
heavy first layer of KemFlash thick enought to fully saturate the reinforcing
fabric. Embed fabric centred over joint and apply a second layer of KemFlash
over the fabric. Once this layer is dry and tack free apply a third layer of
KemFlash liquid. KemFlash is UV resistant. It can be left exposed without
protection. For visual purposes the top coat can be covered with roofing
granules (while still wet) or top coat with KEMSEAL PU or S-80 top-coats.
Minimum application temperatures: +5oC (41oF) Service Temperature: -40oC to
+90oC ( -40oF to 194oF) Do not use if rain or snow is predicted within 2 hours
after the installation.
COVERAGE, Average Coverage per Coat:
-
4.5 (50 sq.ft) per 3.78 ltr (1 gal)
-
23 (250 sq.ft) per 18.9 ltr (5 gal)
-
2 (unreinforced) or 3 (fabric reinforced) coats at
0.5-1ltr/ /coat
-
40-80sq.ft / US gal / coat
-
Coverage rates will vary depending on the porosity of the
substrate.
PACKAGING
3.78 ltr (1 US gal) and 18.9 ltr (5 US gal) pails
STORAGE AND HANDLING
Can be kept for 12 months minimum in the original pails
Opened containers will develop a skin of cured material on top. Un-cured
material beneath can be used. For more information refer to relevant Material
Safety Data Sheets.
