MasterTop 333 - Dust arresting and hardening treatment
MasterTop 333 is a deep penetrating silicate solution for
sealing and dust-proofing powdery or friable concrete and concrete block
FEATURES AND BENEFITS
Old concrete floors that are dusting. Powdery or friable
concrete that is dusting due to inadequate curing and/or low cement content and
concrete block work with friable surfaces. New concrete surfaces to seal
against oil, grease and many chemical solutions
Dust arresting treatment - Binds the surface of old or new
concrete to reduce dusting Prolongs the serviceable life of "problem"
concrete floors before re-topping is required.
Deep penetrating liquid
Increased durability and resistance to abrasion - protects concrete
surfaces by sealing and hardening concrete surfaces, dense surface - Resists penetration of oil and
Protects concrete from the corrosive effects of smoke fumes, mild
acids, salts and many other aggressive chemical solutions Economical - large
areas can be dustproofed with an application Caution : Will etch glass Not
suitable for clay, bricks or pavers.
Correct surface preparation is essential to ensure a
successful application. Surfaces must be dry and absorbent, free from oil,
grease, paint, curing compounds and other contaminants.
New concrete floors:
New concrete floors that require hardening, sealing or dust
arresting treatment should be left until they are at least 28 days old then
dilute. MasterTop 333 1:1 with clean potable water, and carefully apply by
broom, mop, spray or squeegee until absorption ceases and all pores are filled.
Do not allow MasterTop 333 to puddle. Liquid membrane curing compounds should
NOT be used when using MasterTop 333, use alternative methods such as polythene
film or water curing.
Old concrete floors, soft stone, concrete blocks:
After surface preparation, apply 3 coats, at 24 hour
intervals. 1st coat diluted 1:3 with potable water 2nd coat diluted 1:2 with
potable water 3rd coat diluted 1:1 with potable water The application of the
first coat should continue until no more solution will penetrate the surface.
Allow to dry for 24 hours. Repeat procedure for 2nd and 3rd coats. During
application do not allow puddles to form or a significant surface build will
occur. A glaze or sheen should not form on the surface. MasterTop 333 is
formulated to penetrate, not form a surface coating. 24 hours after the
completion of the 3rd coat, wash and broom any excess surface material away.
NOTE: Surfaces treated with MasterTop 333 can exhibit a whitish, blotchy
appearance. Where the treated surface has been allowed to become wet up to
seven days after the final coat, it can become slippery. To overcome these
surface conditions, neutralise by brooming a solution of 1 part hydrochloric
acid diluted in 15 parts of water onto the floor. Hose down after 10 minutes
and allow to dry. The above procedure is also necessary before considering
overcoating with paints, renders etc. A small test area is recommended prior to
application of any subsequent surface finish. Treated surfaces may be opened to
traffic when the surface has dried completely and no tackiness remains, usually
after 24 hours.
Coverage will vary greatly depending on the porosity and
texture of the surface of the concrete and its age. Old concrete can take
double the quantity of MasterTop 333 compared to new concrete, as will a very
rough profile at the surface. As a guide: Concrete Finish Old/New Coverage Wood
float Old 0.17 litre/m2 (6m2/litre) Wood float New 0.10 litre/m2 (10m2/litre)
Steel float Old 0.12 litre/m2 (8m2/litre) Steel float New 0.08 litre/m2 (12m2/litre)
PACKAGING MasterTop 333 is packed in 5 and 20 litres containers.
