Description:
Sika Contact-4600 AU is a sprayable contact adhesive that has been formulated to meet varied needs for laminate fabrication. This adhesive gives fast drying time, and a strong heat resistant and water resistant bond.
Product benefits:
-
1C adhesive
-
Very short flash-off time
-
High initial strength
-
Easy to apply
-
Resistant against aging
-
Broad adhesion range
Areas of application:
Sika Contact-4600 AU has a very broad adhesion range and gives an elastic, strong and lasting bond. Suitable substrates are wood, rubber sheets and metal sheets. In the production of transport vehicles Sika Contact-4600 AU is suitable for the room temperature contact bonding of different covering materials e.g. PUR foams, textiles and for adjoining steps, wheel arches, seat brackets and side walls, especially for covering materials with high spring-back forces, like cover trims and edging profiles. This product is suitable for professional experienced users only. Test with actual substrates and conditions have to be performed to ensure adhesion and material compatibility

Cure mechanism:
Sika Contact-4600 AU cures primarily due to the evaporation of the solvent. At elevated temperatures the chemical curing is significantly quicker.
Chemical resistance:
Sika Contact-4600 AU is resistant to water, lime water, temporarily resistant to weak acids and caustic solutions, fuels, mineral oils, vegetable and animal fats and oils, not resistant to organic acids, alcohol, concentrated mineral acids and caustic solutions and paint thinners. These are only general indications. In case of expected chemical or thermal exposure, we recommend a project related testing or refer to the Industry Technical Service Representative.
Method of application:
Surface preparation The adhesion surfaces must be clean, dry and free of oils and fats. Application The adhesive generally is applied with suitable roll-coater, tooth- comb, brush or spray gun. Both surfaces are coated. Wait until touch dry (normally 3- 5min) depending on drying conditions, then bring the materials together with strong even pressure. Care must be taken to avoid the formation of adhesive pools on the bonding surfaces. Entrapped solvent causes weak bond. Once the container is opened, the material must be used up in a short time. The processing temperature must be at least 5oC and less than 35oC. Optimal temperature range is 15oC to 25oC.
Removal
Uncured Sika Contact-4600AU may be removed from tools and equipment with Sika Remover-208 or another suitable solvent. Once cured, the material can only be removed mechanically. Hands and exposed skin should be washed immediately using Sika Hand clean towel or a suitable industrial hand cleaner and water. Do not use solvents.
