Kemseal PU Membrane is a fast cure, liquid applied,
polyurethane elastomeric waterproofing membrane which when fully cured forms a
permanently flexible waterproof lining to most building surfaces including
reinforced concrete, block work, brick work, cement
render, plaster board, fibre-reinforced cement sheets, particle board flooring
and plywood etc.

INSTALLATION,
GENERAL
-
COVERAGE: 1.5 Litres/ m2
-
SHELF LIFE: 6-12 months in
-
cool environment.
-
TOUCH DRY: 2 - 4 hours
-
RECOAT: 4-8 hours
-
THINNING: Xylene
-
SOLVENT RESISTANCE: Not Resistant
-
ELONGATION: 600%
WEATHER RESISTANCE: Should be protected from sunlight-
may be top coated with Kemseal S80 or other compatible UV protective coating.
TILING: Kemforte PU may be tiled over when fully cured.
Broadcast clean dry sand into top coat. Use twopart cement based adhesive. Do
not use solvent based adhesives/sealers over KEMSEAL PU. Externally,
provide sufficient measures for full allowance of expansion
and contraction in overlaying tiles and topping - particularly important with
sheet flooring externally, or damage to the membrane may occur
SURFACE PREPARATION:
Ensure surface is firmly placed/fixed to manufacturers
directions. Surface must be free of dirt, dust, loose particles, oil,
contaminates, curing compounds and flaking concrete etc. Acid etch if
necessary. Concrete must be a minimum strength of 20 mpa and have cured a
minimum of 28 days if Kemseal WBE Primer is not used. Surface must be dry. Fill
all screw holes, cracks and voids with Kemseal PU Sealant. Install leak control
flanges around all pipe penetrations. Moisture Cure Polyurethane Waterproof
Membrane
PRIMER:
Kemseal PU is often self-priming when used on internal
surfaces eg. villaboard, chipboard, sound concrete, block work. Absorbent
surfaces may require priming with Kemseal PU thinned with 20 - 50% Xylene or
with Kemseal WBE applied at 6 m2/Litre. Prime damp areas and areas subject to
rising damp with Kemseal WBE. Plastic/Plumbing fittings shall be primed with
Kemseal WBE. Allow to fully cure prior to membrane application.
DETAILING:
Apply a minimum 12mm fillet of Kemseal PU Sealant between
all horizontal to vertical junctions such as floor to wall/hob and around
pipe/column penetrations. Around rain water and floor waste outlets, apply
membrane to 1.5mm thick reinforced with polyester fabric 100mm wide across
join. Where angles are installed such as across bathroom doorways or under
shower screens (hobless shower) angle is to be adhered into a bead of Kemseal
PU Sealant. Contact Kemforte for full installation procedures for bathrooms.
Refer to Kemforte for specification on expansion joints.
REINFORCEMENT / BONDBREAKERS:
A reinforcing fabric and/or bondbreaker tape, may be
utilized over the following areas: Expansion joints, cracks, footing/floor to
wall junctions, shower tray and hob, joints in sheet flooring, vertical corners
above shower tray, around floor/wall penetrations, down into floor waste pipes
and any other area where movement will occur. Reinforcement may also be
required over voids in off form concrete. Reinforcement shall be laid into the
wet base coat and immediately over coated and worked in carefully to fully
saturate fabric.
APPLICATION:
To the prepared surface, apply Kemseal PU by brush,
roller or trowel in one or more coats to achieve a minimum dry film thickness
of 1.2mm. This will require approximatley1.5L/m2 . Turn membrane up at walls
and penetrations and down into drainage outlets. When dry, check for pinholes
or misses and rectify if necessary. Re-coat within 24hrs. If membrane becomes
dirty between coats, clean with xylene to ensure adhesion. Allow 24 hours to
dry before covering.
PRECAUTIONS:
Do not use Kemseal PU membrane in any situation
beyond its physical limitations. Do not apply above 42oC or below 8oC ambient
temperature. Wash equipment with xylene before dry. Do not fix tiles until
fully dry. Protect membrane against damage before and during backfilling,
tiling or covering. Where used externally, Kemseal PU should always be
protected from UV exposure either by top coating with Kemseal S80 or covering
with tiles, sand-cement topping or soil etc. When used externally, provide slip
sheet of polyethylene plastic sheet over membrane prior to sand-cement topping,
in a manner to allow for expansion and contraction of overlaying topping
